Who We Are:
ourAffiliations
High Pointe
Baptist Church
One of the unique factors of High Pointe is the people which
God has brought together by
His grace and for His
glory. Though united by God's Spirit
into one body through faith in the one lord, Jesus Christ, you will find that
regardless of your cultural or ethnic background, God has assembled a beautiful
gathering of believers which reflects the cultural and ethnic diversity of Austin,
the United States
and the world.
High Pointe
is an autonomous local church associated with the Southern Baptist Convention. As an autonomous church, we are
self-governing. This means that we are
not in a denominational structure that requires us to follow the dictates of a
national ecclesiastical body. In an
effort to cooperate with other churches of like mind in advancing the kingdom of God, we are in friendly cooperation with
the Southern Baptist Convention.
The
Southern Baptist Convention
The Southern Baptist Convention is a national fellowship
of Baptist churches. It cooperates with state fellowships of
Southern Baptist churches called ‘state conventions' and county-sized
fellowships of Southern Baptist churches called ‘associations.' Most fundamentally, however, the
Southern Baptist Convention cooperates with the local church. Messengers to the annual, national, two-day
convention, do not represent Southern Baptist
associations or state conventions; they represent churches.
Through the cooperation of over 40,000 churches, the Southern
Baptist Convention is able to support the cause of world missions and other
Christian ministries through some focused institutions that include:
International Mission Board (1845)
North American Mission Board (1845)
Seminary Education (1859-1957):
-Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky
(1859)
-Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas
(1908)
-New Orleans Baptist
Theological Seminary, New Orleans,
Louisiana (1917)
-Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, Mill Valley, California
(1951)
-Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, Missouri
(1957)
Lifeway Christian Resources (1891)
Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (1913)

The
Southern Baptists of Texas
Convention
The Southern Baptists of Texas Convention (SBTC), founded
in November of 1998, exists to facilitate, extend and enlarge the Great
Commission ministries of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist
churches and associations in Texas, upon the authority of God's inerrant Word,
to the glory of God the Father, under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and the
empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
The Austin Baptist
Association
The Austin
Baptist Association (ABA) is a local association of Southern Baptist Churches
which seek to be a catalyst alongside Great Commission churches to reach all
people groups with the gospel, transforming our community and world through the
power of God.
